Liberty Bank Provides $30,000 to Support Ronald McDonald House of Springfield’s Room Makeover Campaign

by Liberty Bank | Jul 16, 2021

Liberty Bank announced today that the organization recently provided a three-year, $30,000 capital grant to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. This grant is specifically helping Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of Springfield with the completion of a $1.4 million renovation.

The RMH renovation project originally began in 2012 with the refurbishment of the living room, kitchen, and dining room. It continued with the launch of the Room Makeover Campaign in 2016 to focus on the 21 bedrooms and bathrooms, which includes improving handicapped accessibility, a renovation of the playroom, TV room and Conference Room, and installing a new HVAC system. Through Liberty Bank’s support, the final stages of house’s refurbishment – scheduled to be completed this year during the nonprofit’s 30th anniversary – will allow RMHC of Springfield to better serve families of children with serious or chronic illnesses who are getting treated at Baystate Medical Center and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

“We are deeply grateful to Liberty Bank for their support of our Room Makeover Campaign,” stated Michelle D’Amore, Executive Director of RMHC CTMA. “This gift helps close the gap of a complete renovation of the Ronald McDonald House of Springfield.  It will truly make a difference for our children and their families who will need our “home-away-from-away” while being treated at our local hospitals.”

RMH of Springfield serves approximately 500 family members – of children ages birth to 21– each year and provides 24-hour supervision along with on-site aids to consistently provide exceptional service to the families. It is part of one of 689 programs of RMHC worldwide that supports over 375 houses in 65 countries.

"Liberty Bank is proud to partner with the RMHC of CT and Western MA to provide a safe haven for healing children and their families. Thanks to the vision of RMHC, this beautiful new ‘home’ will provide warmth, comfort and joy to children while they’re getting the treatment they need and deserve,” stated Tony Liberopoulos, SVP, Western MA Commercial Banking Regional Manager, Liberty Bank. “When the opportunity to fund this renovation project was presented to us, we immediately stepped up to help make this dream a reality. At Liberty Bank, we have been dedicated to improving the lives of our customers, teammates and communities since 1825. We recently expanded these efforts with our endless commitment to support organizations – like RMH of Springfield – in and around Western MA.”

Liberty Bank, Connecticut’s largest mutual bank, recently expanded its commercial lending footprint into Western Massachusetts with the hiring of Regional Manager, Tony Liberopoulos, and his team. They will be headquartered in the Bank’s first-ever location in Massachusetts, a Commercial Loan Production Office in East Longmeadow (94 Shaker Road), which recently opened its doors.
