FAQs

It’s Liberty Bank’s person-to-person payment tool — similar to Zelle — that lets you securely send money to anyone with a U.S. checking account.

Both let you send money quickly using just an email or phone number. With Pay a Person, you just use Liberty Bank’s digital banking or mobile app.

On the full desktop site, log into your account, click on the Transfer & Pay Bills tab, then the Pay Bills & People menu, then select the Pay a Person tab.

From mobile, click the Transfer & Pay icon at the bottom of your screen and select the Pay a Person tab.

You will need your recipient's mobile phone number or email address. You will also set up a security question that the recipient will answer to confirm their identity and complete the transaction.

Your recipient will receive a text message or email based on the contact method you selected. Once they accept, they will be asked to answer your security question and provide their routing and account numbers. 

After submitting their details and accepting the payment, the funds will be deposited directly into their bank account within 1–3 business days.

Yes. Pay a Person operates with a secure payment portal, meaning that you and your recipient never see each other's bank account information.

Plus, a shared secret question/answer ensures your payment goes to the right person.

No. Your payments and your recipient information is private data.  We won’t show it to others or contact your recipients.  You will see your completed payments in your account transaction history. 

Any personal checking account can be used to send payments, excluding Health Savings Accounts.

Payments submitted after 4:00 p.m. EST will be processed the next business day.

For the first payment to each recipient, your account is debited when the payment is accepted and processed. Future payments to that same recipient will be debited from your account on the scheduled send date. 

You may cancel a payment if it is still in the “scheduled” status. Once the payment has begun processing, it cannot be cancelled.
