MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Middlesex Health is pleased to announce a transformative $1 million grant from the Liberty Bank Foundation to support cancer care and services for patients throughout the region.
The grant was recognized during a dedication ceremony on Monday, September 14 at the Middlesex Health Outpatient and Cancer Center on Saybrook Road in Middletown. The grant, made possible by support from the Liberty Bank Foundation, will strengthen Middlesex Health Cancer Center’s ability to provide advanced, comprehensive cancer care close to home. During the ceremony, Middlesex Health dedicated the Liberty Bank Pavilion, recognizing both organizations’ shared commitment to compassionate, high-quality cancer care for generations to come. Both health system and bank leaders offered remarks, and Liberty teammates helped reveal new signage for the pavilion.
A commemorative plaque also was unveiled in the Cancer Center lobby, along with a bench outside the facility. The bench, a meaningful symbol of Liberty Bank’s brand, represents connection, conversation and community. At the Cancer Center, it will offer a place to pause, reflect and connect – a reminder of the strength found in community and being there for one another.
Liberty’s $1 million investment will support enhancements to diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including cutting-edge, AI-powered breast and lung screening technology and advanced radiation therapy equipment. The grant also will help sustain essential support services, including nurse navigation, genetic counseling, integrative medicine, social work and more, which address the emotional, social and financial needs of patients throughout their cancer journey.
