Liberty Bank Promotes Four to Senior Vice President
Liberty Bank recently promoted four to senior vice president: Fanita Borges, Eileen Engel, Francis Guerrera and Kelly Speranza.
“Fanita, Eileen, Francis and Kelly have demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership and commitment to serving our customers, teammates and communities,” said Liberty Bank President and CEO David W. Glidden. “They are incredibly valuable members of Team Liberty, and these promotions are a well-deserved recognition of the meaningful contributions they make every day.”
Borges, who lives in Unionville, is Liberty’s Residential Sales Manager. She joined the bank in 2021 as a Mortgage Loan Officer and previously held positions at Webster Bank, Sunrise Financial Group, Sovereign Bank and UPS Capital.
Borges has completed certificate programs from the New England College of Finance, and she is a member of Mortgage Bankers Association, the Association of Latino Professionals of America and Prospanica. She serves on the Mortgage Markets Committee for the American Bankers Association and was appointed by the governor to serve on the Connecticut Social Equity Council.
Engel, who currently serves as the bank’s Loan Fulfillment Manager, has worked for Liberty for 38 years. The Waterford resident has held various positions at Liberty over the years.
Engel earned her bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College, her MBA from the University of New Haven and her master’s in teaching from Sacred Heart University. She volunteers at St. Joseph School in New London, and she is a committee member for both the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association and the Mortgage Bankers Association.
Guerrera lives in Newington and is Liberty’ Procurement Officer. He joined the bank in 2021 after working for more than a decade at The Hartford. He’s also worked for several other companies, including Virtusa, DXC Technology and Ebix Consulting.
Guerrera earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Hartford and is a SIG University certified sourcing professional. He volunteers with the United Way, Connecticut Foodshare and Hope After Loss and plays the drums in Stay Tuned, a local rock band.
Speranza, of Plainville, has also worked for Liberty in various positions for many years. She started at the bank in 1993 and is the bank’s Secondary Market and Loan Servicing Manager. Speranza was recently named a CEO Award Winner, a prestigious honor given to select Liberty Bank teammates annually. Borges and Engel are past recipients of this award.
Speranza has a bachelor’s degree from UConn and graduated from the Connecticut School of Finance & Management. She is a member of the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association’s Closing/Compliance Committee and the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Secondary and Capital Markets Committee.
