Nearly 4,000 Items Donated to Liberty Bank’s Save-A-Suit Drive for Veterans

by Liberty Bank | Jun 15, 2018

Liberty Bank recently partnered with Save-A-Suit and WTNH News Channel 8 to collect suits, blazers, ties, shirts, women's items, dresses, and shoes for veterans returning home from active duty. This initiative supports local military men and women as they get reacquainted with the job interview process and look for long-term employment.

“News 8 is proud to partner with Liberty Bank on important initiatives that help improve the lives of Connecticut veterans,” said Rich Graziano, Vice-President and General Manager of WTNH/WCTX television. “To help raise awareness of the annual Save-A-Suit drive is just one of the ways we can honor those who have so admirably served our country.”

During the first two weeks of May, nearly 500 full suits were donated and 3,500 other items including blazers, dresses, shirts/tops,  skirts and slacks, and more, bringing the total to almost 4,000 donations. “Supporting our veterans and active military is vital to the success of our communities,” stated Chandler J. Howard, Liberty Bank, President and CEO. “Liberty Bank employees are dedicated to ensuring our soldiers are equipped with the tools they need to prosper now and in the future. Save-A-Suit is one opportunity for all of us to pay it forward to the men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom.”

Community members supported local veterans by dropping off new or gently used business attire at all 55 Liberty Bank branches throughout the state. “We are overwhelmed with outstanding support from Liberty Bank. It was one of our most successful suit drives. We also appreciate all the support from the community and want to thank Liberty Bank for their commitment to help veterans,” Scott Sokolowski, Air Force Veteran, Save-A-Suit Founder and Board Chairman.

This was the first time that the Bank’s branches served as drop-off locations for Save-A-Suit donations, which will help veterans experience smoother transitions from service to civilian life. For more details, please contact Amy Helbling Crafa at 860-344-7213 or
