by Liberty Bank | Sep 27, 2017

Liberty Bank, a Connecticut chartered community bank headquartered in Middletown, was recently named a Hartford Courant Top Workplace for the sixth straight year and placed number one in the large-employer category for the first time. The bank was one of 60 local companies and organizations to make the list for 2017. Winners were announced and recognized amongst 600 attendees at the annual Top Workplaces celebration held at the Aqua Turf in Southington on September 21.

“This award means the world to us because it’s voted on by our employees. We can’t thank them enough for this remarkable honor and for their hard work day-in and day-out to make Liberty Bank the place to be,” stated Chandler J. Howard, Liberty Bank President and CEO.

“Not only do our employees go the extra mile for our customers and take pride in their jobs, they are also dedicated to connecting with our communities. These things combined with this latest accomplishment bring us one step closer to achieving our long-term Vision of becoming Connecticut’s most admired company.”

Liberty Bank finished first among nine employers in its category of workplaces within Hartford, Tolland, Middlesex, Windham and New London counties that have a minimum of 500 employees. Its corporate culture built on collaboration across all levels and departments of the bank and its strong emphasis on gathering employee feedback, helped contribute to this outcome. When completing the survey, employees gave high ratings for teamwork and work-life balance as well as feeling valued and respected.

This was the seventh Hartford Courant Top Workplaces special report on the best companies to work for in Connecticut. Winners were chosen by surveying employees using 24 statements aimed at finding out their feelings and thoughts about their employer.

Established in 1825, Liberty Bank is Connecticut’s oldest bank, with $4.5 billion in assets and 55 banking offices throughout the central, eastern, western and shoreline areas of the state. As a full-service financial institution, Liberty offers consumer and commercial banking, home mortgages, insurance, and investment services. Named as a “Top Workplace” by the Hartford Courant for six consecutive years, Liberty maintains a longstanding commitment to superior personal service and unparalleled community involvement.
