At Liberty Bank, we know we can all do more to help our communities, and invite others to seek more meaningful ways to support each other.
Let’s make kindness something that becomes a habit and inspires us in our everyday lives, creating a ripple effect on the communities that we call our home.
Congratulations to the recipients of Liberty Bank's first ever Kindness Scholarship! Liberty Bank has awarded $5,000 scholarships to Ella Switzer of West Hartford, Ben Costanzo of Chester, and Sarah Petrie of Higganum. These incoming college freshmen have made meaningful differences their respective communities by leading with kindness, embracing what it means to Be Community Kind.
Tara Wesoloskie is Liberty Bank’s Kindness Hero for helping fight childhood cancer through PJ Day for the Kids. To honor Tara and all that she does to support PJ Day, Tara has won a cash prize of $2,500 and a $2,500 donation to Connecticut Children's.
Watch how easy it is to inspire a
community of kindness.

Wegman is a puppy in training with Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and he comes to work at our Corporate Headquarters every day with volunteer puppy raiser and Liberty Bank teammate Kristine Carney.
Guiding Eyes for the Blind provides dogs to people with vision loss, and they are passionate about connecting exceptional dogs with individuals for greater independence. Kristine has been a long-time supporter of Guiding Eyes for the Blind because of the independence and companionship her daughter has received from a Guiding Eyes Dog.
Did you know? Taking a Guiding Eyes dog to the work environment for training purposes is a great socialization opportunity. During the experience, each pup is building a reference library so that when they’re out there as working guide dogs, they can say, “been there, done that” and keep right on task for their owner.
"I strive to inspire my students to demonstrate acts of kindness as you have shown me."
Surprise Squad recipient Sara Desjarlais sent this letter thanking Irene O'Connor and the WFSB Liberty Bank Surprise Squad.
At Liberty Bank, we believe that through kindness, we can make change. And people like Sara inspire us every day.
Here's a look back at 10 years of the WFSB Liberty Bank Surprise Squad! At Liberty Bank, we're here to make our neighbors' lives a little better - now and for the future. That's what it means to #BeCommunityKind.
At Liberty Bank, we truly believe that one act of kindness can inspire another. That's why we're thrilled to hear this story from our Meriden branch: "Two young men came into the branch to open a checking account, and both men stated they did not have funds and would come back. A customer overheard the young men did not have $25 to open their accounts, so she handed each of them $25, told them to open their accounts and wished them well!"
Many thanks to this customer for such a kind and generous gesture!
Team Liberty contributed 12,000+ volunteer hours in 2022 and dedicated September to volunteerism! September was 'Community Kindness Month,' a bankwide initiative to invest in our communities. Here at Liberty Bank, employee volunteerism is embedded into our culture. Teammates across the bank give their time to causes they care about, and the bank provides each teammate with four volunteer days per year, fully paid. Keep an eye out for us in the community!
During Random Acts of Kindness Week, our teammates headed out to deliver surprises and spread kindness in the communities we call home. At Liberty Bank, we believe that a bank belongs to something much bigger than itself. And a little bit of kindness can go a long way.
Thanks to the generosity of our customers, community and teammates, we're proud to announce we've collected nearly 5,000 clothing items for Save A Suit. These items will help our Veterans prepare for the next step in their careers as they re-enter civilian life. Our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed!
