Liberty Bank Launches 1st Annual ‘Kindness Scholarship Program’

$5,000 Scholarship Awarded to a 2023 High School Graduate Who Leads with Kindness

Liberty Bank today announced the launch of their ‘Kindness Scholarship Program’, an exciting and creative new initiative that will grant a $5,000 scholarship starting this year to a high school student graduating in 2023 who is making a meaningful difference in their community by leading with kindness.

High school students eligible to apply for Liberty’s new scholarship this year must be graduating in 2023 and currently attending a high school in a town served by Liberty Bank. Those towns can be found here: www.liberty-bank.com/locations

“At Liberty, our brand promise is to ‘Be Community Kind’ and that comes in a number of different ways, including offering this new scholarship to financially recognize a student for consistently demonstrating kindness in every day moments,” said David W. Glidden, President & CEO of Liberty Bank. “With this top-of-mind, we launched the Kindness Scholarship to generously reward a graduating high school student who is making a significant impact on their communities.”

The selected high school graduate who is eligible to receive the Bank’s $5,000 scholarship in 2023 must fit four criteria, ranked in the following order:

  1. Student has demonstrated commitment to giving back and making a difference in their community because a little bit of kindness goes a long way. Student who consistently demonstrates that they embody Liberty Bank’s “Be Community Kind” brand, core values and principles such as Kindness, Empathy, Respect, Collaboration.
  2. Submit a 500-750 word written essay on why they are deserving of this scholarship
  3. Actively participate in community/volunteer extracurricular activities
  4. Receive a teacher, counselor or school administrator’s recommendation

Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, May 26, 2023 and sent to Kindness Scholarship, c/o Liberty Bank Marketing Department, 245 Long Hill Road, Middletown, CT 06457.
