Liberty Bank Seeks Applications For Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship

Once again, Liberty Bank is seeking applications for their 2023 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship as part of the company’s continued dedication to help improve lives for generations to come. The scholarship will be presented from Liberty Bank Foundation to a graduating high school senior who is enrolling in an accredited college, university, or other institution of higher education (two-year or more) with the goal of majoring in engineering or a technology-related field. 

The 2023 scholarship recipient will be selected by Wilbur, past Liberty Bank Chairman of the Board of Directors, and will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be graduating from a high school in a town served by Liberty Bank.

The Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship application form with guidelines are available on Liberty Bank’s website and must be submitted no later than Friday, April 28, 2023. For more information, please call (860) 638-2961. 

Donald B. Wilbur became a Corporator of Liberty Bank in 1993 and joined the board of directors two years later.  He was elected chairman in 2004 and served in that role until his retirement from the board in 2008.  He retired in 2002 as plant manager of Unilever HPC, USA in Clinton.  A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Wilbur joined Chesebrough-Pond’s USA in 1970 and held various positions over the years at plants in Alabama, Missouri, and Connecticut. 

The 2022 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship was awarded to Olivia Fustini of Stonington, who is currently attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, pursuing a degree in civil and architectural engineering.
