Liberty Bank Replaces ATM Fleet with Faster, Modern & More Reliable Machines

by Liberty Bank | Jun 23, 2022

Liberty Bank of Middletown, Connecticut, today announced they have successfully completed the network-wide replacement of their fleet of 63 ATMs with faster, modern and more reliable network of banking machines.

“At Liberty Bank, we strive to deliver extraordinary customer experiences to ensure our customers have access to not only best-in-class products and services but also the latest industry leading technology,” said David W. Glidden, President and CEO. “The Liberty team worked tirelessly over the past several months planning, testing and replacing our 63 ATMs with the kind of faster, state-of-the-art and relied upon machines our customers want to conduct their banking transactions.”

In addition to the standard functionalities Liberty ATMs have always offered, there are many new added benefits. Transacting at the new ATMs is a much faster experience for customers, proven by the 20 to 30-second reduction in the time it takes to make a withdrawal.

Customers can now choose their denominations when withdrawing cash. For example, rather than relying on the default setting for determining the denominations they will receive, the customer now has the convenient option to select fifty, twenty or ten dollar bills.

The Liberty ATMs also have the ‘card before cash’ feature to ensure customers do not leave their card when they are finished making a transaction. The new ATMs enhance safety and security around the machines with improved video coverage.

The new modern ATMs, updated with Liberty’s “Be Community Kind” branding, allow for greater marketing capabilities and gives the Bank flexibility for making future enhancements down the road, including Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) capabilities and contactless card readers.

“Our goal from the very beginning of the ATM fleet replacement project was to implement a long-term and dependable solution. We could no longer rely on our previous approach that was to fix our ATMs as we went along,” said Hope Utterbeck, Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer. “We activated teammates from 12 different departments to bring this important project to reality through an innovative, forward-looking approach that will benefit our customers and teammates for years to come.”

Liberty Bank partnered with Cardtronics, a managed service provider, who will provide end-to-end support and serve as the Bank’s efficient one-stop shop for all of their ATMs needs. This enables branch staff and certain back-office teammates to dedicate more time focusing on customers and other daily responsibilities rather than managing, servicing and balancing the ATMs on their own.
