Liberty Bank Donates to MHC on Behalf of Customers

Liberty Bank, Connecticut’s oldest bank headquartered in Middletown, recently donated to a local organization on their customers' behalf just in time for the New Year. The charity of choice was Mental Health Connecticut (MHC), celebrating 110 years of improving health for all state residents.

In January, Chandler J. Howard, President and CEO of Liberty Bank, presented a $5,000 check to Luis Perez, President and CEO of Mental Health Connecticut, and Suzi Craig Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Policy.

“We applaud and share Liberty Bank’s deep commitment to living in a community where each of us have what we need to thrive. Liberty Bank understands the importance of making mental health a priority – for everyone – and we are grateful they have chosen to support Mental Health Connecticut,” Luis Perez, President and CEO of Mental Health Connecticut.

To honor their 110th anniversary, MHC is showing the importance of giving 110 percent to mind and body health through a yearlong campaign, #Be1of110. They’ll have 110 inspiring stories from health Champions, helping them raise $110,000 for their wellness programs, such as gardening, yoga, art, relaxation rooms, and more: www.mhconn.org/be1of110.

“We chose this organization because of their deep commitment to improve people’s quality of life in the communities where we do business,” stated Chandler J. Howard, Liberty Bank President and CEO. “Liberty Bank’s donation will directly support ‘Write On!’ their creative writing and advocacy program to help young adults find their voice and write their truth. We are honored to help break down the barriers that keep people from getting the care they deserve and promote the importance of mental wellness.”

Throughout its footprint, Liberty Bank is dedicated to giving back to non-profits focused on helping children and families get access to quality services. This is achieved through donations from both the Bank and its Foundation, and a work environment dedicated to volunteerism.

Established in 1825, Liberty Bank is Connecticut’s oldest mutual bank, with more than $4.7 billion in assets and 55 banking offices throughout the central, eastern, shoreline and western areas of the state. As a full-service financial institution, Liberty offers consumer and commercial banking, home mortgages, insurance, and investment services. Named as a “Top Workplace” by the Hartford Courant for six consecutive years, Liberty maintains a longstanding commitment to superior personal service and unparalleled community involvement.
